Brown County St. Vincent de Paul Serves 550 Children at the Christmas Celebration

BCCFIN Board Member Shirley Boardman penned an article in the March 2015 issue of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s newsletter. In The Vincentian Front Line Boardman recounted the efforts of Brown County’s chapter of St. Vincent de Paul at the 2014 Christmas Celebration. Boardman wrote:

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Brown County concluded another record-breaking Christmas Celebration this past December. More than 550 children from 190 different families were provided hats, gloves, socks, underwear, personal care items, books, and gifts. Screen Shot 2015-03-11 at 9.12.39 AM

Along with the Christmas Celebration, 236 families were provided 10,251 pounds of food.

Contributors to this year’s program included: Brown County Community Foundation – Cummins Matching Grant; Church of the Lakes, Nineveh; Indianapolis Council, Society of St. Vincent de Paul; MDWise, Inc.; Midwest Food Bank, Indianapolis; Nashville United Methodist Church; St. Agnes Catholic Church; St. Barnabas Catholic School; St. David’s Episcopal Church, Been Blossom; St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Franklin; The Caring Center, Lebanon; Walmart in Columbus and Franklin; and Sam’s Club in Columbus.

The total value of all grants, contributions and donations exceeded $11,000.
