Janet and Terry Norman recently established the Norman Family Scholarship to benefit Brown County students pursuing further education in a variety of ways. From four year degrees to vocational skills, Mark and Terry feel it is important to support this need in our community. Janet said, “There is a real need in our community to support kids that don’t want to go to school for four years, but instead want to pursue a trade or vocational direction. These kids might become successful plumbers, electricians, or other very important trades.”
Terry Norman knows the important boost a scholarship can provide. “The concept of helping students get a leg up with grants and scholarships is a personal one. They really helped me get through college. I do believe that if it weren’t for scholarships, I wouldn’t have gone to college. If it wasn’t there when I went to school, I wouldn’t have been able to do it. I worked jobs for the summer, but it wasn’t enough. After working with the BCCF Scholarship committee, I could still see the need. A $500 scholarship can be a big deal for a student.”
